Still peak. Hottest water of the year, soggy afternoons, and the front edge of hurricane season.
August is July with more rain. Water stays at 84°F (still peak), afternoons stay above 88°F, but rainfall jumps and the first hurricane outlooks start to matter late month. The last two weeks see real rate softening as families return to school.
Heaviest of the year for humidity. Pop-up storms run throughout the day, not just at 3-5 p.m. The Atlantic remains bath-warm. By mid-August, the late-summer melancholy creeps in — cicadas, longer evening shadows, and the first signs that the island is getting ready to exhale into September.
Yes if you are tied to the school calendar. Late August (Aug 17-31) softens noticeably as families head home; you can sometimes find resort discounts in the last week. Hurricane risk is still low this early but trip insurance is worth considering for stays after Aug 20.
Everything still at peak. Full staffing through Labor Day weekend (Sept 5-7, 2026). After Labor Day, the seasonal scale-back begins.
Same as July. Multiple swimsuits, sun shirts, sunscreen, water shoes, light rain shell. The shell is more useful than in July because rain is more frequent. Pack DEET; mosquitoes are at their worst.
First two weeks book like July (5-6 months out). Late August (after Aug 17) opens up significantly; deals appear inside 4-6 weeks. Trip insurance for late-August bookings is recommended (5-7% of trip total).
